One dead after avalanche in Alberta

One person was killed in an avalanche in Kananaskis Country’s Peter Lougheed Provincial Park on Saturday, November 11. Two climbers had scaled the Lone Ranger ice climb at the Ranger Creek drainage and were “struck from above” by a wind-slab avalanche as they began their descent. One member of the group was partly buried and able to dig themselves out. The other member was fully buried and did not survive.
