Snow and Avalanche Glossary
About this Glossary
This glossary was scanned in the spring and/or summer of 1997 from a variety
of print sources using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and a spell checker.
The text files were then converted to html using a simple (custom) PERL script.
At the start of the 1998-99 season begins we went to a frames layout for the
glossary.
Since 1997 most of the entries have been cleaned up and many of the definitions
or descriptions improved. This is an ongoing process. While most of the bigger
problems have been eliminated a few lingering small things may occur. A link
may open in this frame when it shouldn't, or it may open a new browser when
it shouldn't. Suggestions and problem reports are always welcome.
The process of checking and improving each file continues. If you find something
you feel could be improved let us know. Also let us know if you are looking
for a definition of a term which does not appear here so we can consider adding
it.
