Western Iran avalanche kills three mountaineers

TEHRAN, Dec 22 (Reuters) - The frozen bodies of three mountaineers killed by an avalanche while climbing Mount Alvand in western Iran were found on Monday, the official Iranian news agency IRNA said.
"The uninterrupted rescue operations which were started by several teams some five days ago, ended today when bodies were pulled out of the mass of snow on heights known as Kalagh Laneh," the news agency said.
It named the victims as Habib Farrokhi, Touraj Shiri and Davoud Rezaei.
Mount Alvand is 3,572 metres (11,719 ft) high.
