Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment Co. releases first of its kind Map Tool containing all rules, grids, and scales used in US, Alaska, Canada, UK, And Europe.

Telluride, CO (PRWEB) October 2, 2006 -- Furthering its strategy to deliver top-quality mountaineering equipment to the professional and seasoned winter backcountry traveler alike, Matt Brooks, President of Brooks-Range Mountaineering Equipment Co., announced today at the annual ISSW (International Snow Science Workshop) Conference that Brooks-Range has released the All-in-One Map Tool for use with topological maps in the continental US, Alaska, Canada, the UK, and Europe. The tool contains all the relevant rules, grids, and avalanche scales commonly used in backcountry travel in these areas

"This map tool represents the first of its kind, containing all the information professional guides need for reading maps -- on a single tool," Brooks stated. The tool is printed on .015 mil plastic, and is printed in two colors for ease of use.

The map tool was developed by Jan Johnston-Tyler, a technical communications professional. "The map tool was designed to fit inside of the standard field book used by mountaineering professionals," Johnston-Tyler stated. "And because of the importance of technical accuracy, the tool was drawn with CAD tools, and then reviewed by mountaineering and avalanche professionals, as well as inspected by a professional cartographer."

The map tool retails for $13.50 US.
